The Season 3 of Indian Premier League has taken the nation by storm and our television celebs are enjoying every moment of it. They talk about the new trends started by the league, their favorite teams, who they think should be donned with the purple and orange cap and very importantly if, IPL has done good or bad for the game, players and country.

Their answers are thoughtful and help us have a whole new way of looking at the merger of the world of glamour and sports!

Kinshuk Mahajan:

Who are you rooting for this IPL?
I'm from Delhi so Delhi Daredevils.

Which four teams do you think will make it to the semifinals and who will bag the trophy?
Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Deccan Chargers and Rajasthan Royals.

Who will get the purple (best bowler) and orange (best batsman) cap?
Best batsman is no doubt Sachin Tendulkar and best bowler I think is Shane Warne.

Which is the one new Indian face that you think is a prospect for the future? Has IPL helped newcomers in any way?
Rathod. Yes it has helped newcomers.

The emphasis on states and cities instead of country with an international team…what is your take on this?
It's a good way to promote positivity and sportsmen spirit. IPL has started a new era in world cricket. It promotes globalization and world unity.

Vivan Bhatena:

Who are you rooting for this IPL?
Mumbai Indians

Which four teams do you think will make it to the semifinals and who will bag the trophy?
Well, I've been out of town so can't really say about the semifinalists. But I think the winner will be Mumbai Indians because they are too strong this time.

Who will get the purple (best bowler) and orange (best batsman) cap?
Tendulkar should get the best batsman award. Not only that, he has displayed great captaincy and performance. Best bowler should go to Shane Warne.

Which is the one new Indian face that you think is a prospect for the future? Has IPL helped newcomers in any way?
Can't say. Maybe it's helped them. But it's done good for the overall cricket scenario in India.

The emphasis on states and cities instead of country with an international team…what is your take on this?
I just say, why do you want to go for queries about state or country? All you want to see is a good match which IPL is providing for. The rest doesn't matter.

Shaleen Bhanot:

Who are you rooting for this IPL?
I'm a proud Mumbaikar, so Mumbai Indians all the way!

Which four teams do you think will make it to the semifinals and who will bag the trophy?
I am not an avid follower of cricket so can't say so much about semi-finalists. But I think Mumbai team will win.

Who will get the purple (best bowler) and orange (best batsman) cap?
Sachin has proved himself once again in this match. So he should get best batsman cap. About bowlers I don't know.

Which is the one new Indian face that you think is a prospect for the future? Has IPL helped newcomers in any way?
I can't name any newcomer but yes IPL has helped the newcomers.

The emphasis on states and cities instead of country with an international team…what is your take on this?
Till the time you take it in the right spirit everything is good including the Indian Premier League. Yes there is a tangent of states etc. but at the end of it all it's just a game. So enjoy the game, enjoy life!

Jay Bhanushali:

Who are you rooting for this IPL?
Mumbai Indians

Which four teams do you think will make it to the semifinals and who will bag the trophy?
Mumbai Indians, Delhi Daredevils, Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings will reach semi-fifinals. I think Mumbai Indians will win this time.

Who will get the purple (best bowler) and orange (best batsman) cap?
Best batsman should go for Jacques Kallis and Best Bowler should go to Shane Warne.

Which is the one new Indian face that you think is a prospect for the future? Has IPL helped newcomers in any way?
IPL has helped everyone who plays nice and works hard to earn lots of money.

The emphasis on states and cities instead of country with an international team…what is your take on this?
IPL has helped us get close to other countries too. At first we never used to cheer for Pakistan and the political rivalry continued to the sports field too. But now when a Pakistan batsman scores for our favorite team, we cheer for it. Thanks to IPL, the difference between countries is decreasing tremendously.

Gaurav Khanna:

Who are you rooting for this IPL?
Well I'm rooting for both Mumbai and Delhi since I work in Mumbai and I hail from Delhi .

Which four teams do you think will make it to the semifinals and who will bag the trophy?
Haven't been following the matches closely so I can't comment on that. But I think if Mumbai continues to keep up their pace then they'll surely bag the trophy.

Who will get the purple (best bowler) and orange (best batsman) cap?
Best batsman is anytime Sachin Tendulkar and best bowler should go for Shane Warne.

Which is the one new Indian face that you think is a prospect for the future? Has IPL helped newcomers in any way?
Shikhar Dhawan is a promising newcomer. And IPL has increased awareness in the sense lots of ladies and children are now watching cricket. So I guess in that case, the fellows have a wider spotlight.

The emphasis on states and cities instead of country with an international team…what is your take on this?
With IPL the loyalty is more to the sport in itself irrespective of state, nation or player. We have other tournaments to display loyalty to our country so I think little leeway can be given to IPL considering the fact that it's a game that has an international appeal.

Kunal Verma:

Who are you rooting for this IPL?
Mumbai Indians

Which four teams do you think will make it to the semifinals and who will bag the trophy?
Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals and Deccan Chargers will get to semifinals. I'm pretty positive about Mumbai winning the season.

Who will get the purple (best bowler) and orange (best batsman) cap?
Shane and Sachin respectively.

Which is the one new Indian face that you think is a prospect for the future? Has IPL helped newcomers in any way?
Whoever is playing for IPL has a lot of potential. And yes definitely, IPL has helped the newcomers.

The emphasis on states and cities instead of country with an international team…what is your take on this?
It's just a game. Just like football leagues happen in US and UK, the IPL is for cricket in India. When you are playing with your international counterparts you become very good at it.  Also, the relations between countries gets better. Now see, Sania marrying Shoib has made the Pakistani people very happy that someone is taking a step, be it voluntarily or involuntarily, to ease the relations between the India and Pakistan.

Ragini Khanna:

Ragini Khanna looking sweetWho are you rooting for this IPL?
Mumbai Indians!!!

Which four teams do you think will make it to the semifinals and who will bag the trophy?
I don't follow the game that much to comment on potential semifinalists. But I really wish that the Mumbai team wins!

Who will get the purple (best bowler) and orange (best batsman) cap?
Best batsman cap should go to Sachin Tendulkar and Best Bowler cap to Shane Warne.

Which is the one new Indian face that you think is a prospect for the future? Has IPL helped newcomers in any way?
I don't know which newcomer is good and the only help IPL has done is for cricketers and film stars to make lots and lots of money.

The emphasis on states and cities instead of country with an international team…what is your take on this?
It's helping globalization and mixing of cultures. It actually symbolizes unity in diversity.

Mahi Vij:

Who are you rooting for this IPL?
Mumbai Indians as I'm from Mumbai and Kings XI as I'm a Punjabi…

Which four teams do you think will make it to the semifinals and who will bag the trophy?
No idea…but looks like Mumbai will win.

Who will get the purple (best bowler) and orange (best batsman) cap?
Best batsman for Sachin and Best Bowler for Shane.

Which is the one new Indian face that you think is a prospect for the future? Has IPL helped newcomers in any way?
Robin Utthappa is a good newcomer. And yes, it's helped the newcomers a lot.

The emphasis on states and cities instead of country with an international team…what is your take on this?
It's really a good thing. We shouldn't put in a bracket that I'm Indian or I'm Pakistani. Everyone is coming together from different places and playing as one team…it's a wonderful thing to watch and it feels nice.

Aasiya Kazi:

Aasiya Kazi as Santu in BandiniWho are you rooting for this IPL?
I was rooting for Kings XI but I think they've pretty much made it out of the league so now I'm rooting for Mumbai which is the next obvious choice.

Which four teams do you think will make it to the semifinals and who will bag the trophy?
I think Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Delhi would make it to top four. And about the winner you can never really say till the last ball. Cricket is a very unpredictable game. But so far Mumbai Indians are going strong.

Who will get the purple (best bowler) and orange (best batsman) cap?
Best batsman, Sachin and best bowler I've no idea.

Which is the one new Indian face that you think is a prospect for the future? Has IPL helped newcomers in any way?
That Tiwari guy…who looks like Dhoni is very good and yes newcomers get to show their talent because of IPL.

The emphasis on states and cities instead of country with an international team…what is your take on this?
IPL makes countries unite and people forget their differences. The focus is totally on the game. Like I watch match just for Yuvraj Singh so I support Kings XI even though I'm not a Punjabi. So it's a good thing that IPL is making different countries' players to play together.

Pushtiie:

Who are you rooting for this IPL?
Mumbai Indians as I'm from Mumbai.

Which four teams do you think will make it to the semifinals and who will bag the trophy?
To be very honest I don't watch so much to guess the semifinalists. But it would be really nice for us Mumbaiites if the Mumbai team wins!

Who will get the purple (best bowler) and orange (best batsman) cap?
I have seen Yousuf Pathan swinging the bat and man, he does it as if it's a child's bat or a plastic one! So for me the best batsman is a tie between Pathan and Sachin. Bowlers, I really can't tell.

Which is the one new Indian face that you think is a prospect for the future? Has IPL helped newcomers in any way?
I wouldn't know so much but I think it has helped the newcomers.

The emphasis on states and cities instead of country with an international team…what is your take on this?
It's an absolutely awesome thing that's happening. This way everyone gets to know the mental thought process or strategy of the other players. This makes it imperative for the sportsmen to reinvent themselves and we will get to see international matches that are much more interesting!

On paper, it looks as though  Sachin Tendulkar lead Mumbai Indians is the clear favorite this time around!! But as Aasiya rightly put it, nothing can be said in a game of Cricket, and that too in the 20 over format till the last ball is bowled...

So IPL fanatics, get going and chalk out your favorites right here so that the Cricket Bonanza gets bigger!!

IPL is fun but not all the matches are that great. From the sounds of it only Jay is really following the matches since he shortlisted the teams that are doing well. Everyone else seems to be making the obvious guess in terms of who deserves best batsman and bowler. hehe.
Altho, IPL needs to hurry up since its got my fav. show on hold!
