Television and film actor Ram Kapoor has found himself at the centre of controversy just days before the release of his upcoming mystery dramedy Mistry. The show, which stars Kapoor alongside Mona Singh, was being promoted through a series of media interactions in Mumbai when things reportedly took an unexpected and uncomfortable turn.

According to reports, during a press meet at JW Marriott in Juhu on June 19, Kapoor allegedly made a string of remarks that many present there found sexually inappropriate and deeply unprofessional. Several eyewitnesses, including journalists and team members from JioHotstar and the show's PR staff, have confirmed being visibly disturbed by his comments.

One of the most jarring statements reportedly came during a conversation about work pressure, where Kapoor likened the experience to feeling "gang-raped", a remark made in the presence of a female journalist who was setting up her equipment. Others present noted that the actor continued to make lewd and suggestive remarks throughout the day, targeting not only the press but also internal staff.

An executive from the platform recounted that Kapoor made an inappropriate comment about a colleague's dress, stating, "The clothes are distracting." Another disturbing moment came when he allegedly told a male staffer, "Your mother should've faked a headache; you shouldn't have been born," followed by multiple references to sex positions during casual exchanges.

These incidents reportedly created a tense and uneasy atmosphere. By the next morning, the matter had reached JioHotstar's senior leadership and HR team. After conducting internal discussions and verifying the claims with multiple eyewitnesses, the platform decided to remove Kapoor from all further promotional activities related to Mistry.

In an official statement, a source from JioHotstar noted, "This workplace prioritises dignity and safety... We will not tolerate behaviour that disrespects professional boundaries."

Mistry, which pairs Ram Kapoor and Mona Singh in a gripping story full of suspense and dark humour, will now continue its promotional journey solely with Mona leading the charge. Kapoor has not yet released any public statement addressing the allegations.
