Kim Soo-Hyun’s Knock Off was supposed to be one of Disney+ landmark projects of 2025. The series is based in the period when South Korea was battling the IMF crisis. Kim Soo-Hyun plays a young man who enters the underworld to make a living. Actress Jo Bo-Ah is also a part of the same. Disney+ has not made any big statement on the project. As of now, it is indefinitely postponed. Kim Soo-Hyun’s fans believe they are waiting for the court judgement. The actor has filed seven cases on Garosero Research Institute, Kim Se Ui and Kim Sae-ron’s family. They have filed three cases on him for abuse of child welfare act.
The series has been filmed to a great extent with only a small portion remaining. Actress Jo Bo-Ah said that they were hopeful about the project. She also said she would not like to say something as she did not wish to hurt anyone. The series has been made on a budget of 60 billion Korean won. It is one of the most expensive projects ever. If the project does not go on Disney +, it will be a huge loss for the producers Arc Media and SLL.
Moreover, they can legally demand compensation from Kim Soo-Hyun only if he gets convicted. The makers do have an option to sell the series to some other platform like Netflix or Viki. The past few days have changed the scenario. After the evidence of Garosero was deemed to be AI generated, people’s opinions have shifted. Reporters have found out new angles like how Kim Sae-ron had taken a debt of 1.2 billion Korean won. Her family also got money deposited into their account from an idol. People who sympathized with the family and now trying to get a 360 degree picture.
