Thank You For Coming: Karan Boolani opens up considering casting Sonam Kapoor in the film

The much-anticipated film 'Thank You For Coming,' directed by Karan Boolani, recently made waves at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival 2023, garnering rave reviews and generating immense anticipation ahead of its theatrical release. 

However, the question on many minds was whether Karan Boolani, the director, considered casting Sonam Kapoor, Rhea Kapoor's sister, in the film, especially given her previous roles in similar genre films like 'Aisha' and 'Veere Di Wedding.' In a recent interview with the Indian Express, Boolani shed light on the casting decisions.

Boolani, who shares a close professional and personal rapport with Sonam Kapoor, stated, “Sonam is someone I have worked a lot with; I have shot so many commercials with her, and we are very close. But the script has to dictate the casting and what kind of actors we need to play these parts. Sonam is a fantastic actor; she is someone I feel who has opened up the rom-com genre in India.” His response highlights the importance of aligning casting choices with the specific requirements of the script and characters.
