Tere Seher Mein is a beautiful story of self discovery: Rajan Shahi

Ace producer Rajan Shahi, who has given some of the path breaking shows like Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Sapna Babul Ka Bidaai, Kuch Toh Log Kahenge and many others, is all set to bring forth another show with a difference - Tere Seher Mein.

As the promos of the show gives us an inkling about the concept of the show, TellyBuzz speaks to the man behind the show producer Rajan Shahi to dig deep into the concept, the origination, and much more about Tere Seher Mein.

Tell us something about the concept of the show. From where did the idea originate?

The concept of the show had come from the Star Plus team. It was based on a very simple thought that today opportunities are emerging everywhere in India and now you need not migrate towards a big city to pursue your dreams. Likewise, it also throws light on the fact that the lifestyle we are living today, the kind of branded clothes that we are wearing, the number of friends we have on our Facebook, so what if all this comes crashing down one day? What will remain with us then? This is what happens to a family where the girls have lived a luxurious life full of branded clothes, expensive cars; what if all this crashes down one day and they will have to go to their roots! It's a beautiful story of self discovery; it's a beautiful journey of a family from Paris, Mumbai and to Banaras.

What does the title of the show signify?

The story of the show talks about a city which you make your home. Its about the journey of a girl who makes somebody else's city as her own.

Tell us something about the cast of the show. You have roped in the renowned actress Gautami Kapoor along with fresh faces.

Whatever shows we have done before, Bidaai, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Kuch Toh Log Kahenge, Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya, etc. we have always put a lot of emphasis on good casting which comprises seasoned actors and fresh talent. In Tere Seher Mein, we have again roped in good and interesting cast. Gautami is playing a very strong role having strength and simplicity with her own moral and lifestyle which I feel is very close to Gautami. She is basically a women of strength.

I met Gautami and convinced her for this role and I am very happy that she is playing a very integral part on the show. We always wanted to work together and this show was a very good opportunity. The three girl Heeba Nawab, Anjum Fakih and Isha have undergone through extensive grooming to get into the skin of the character.

We have some very interesting characters and actors in the star cast. The love interests will also follow in future as the show will progress. Dhruv Bhandari and Rafi Malik will be playing very interesting characters and they have done a brilliant job. Lots of big actors will be seen doing cameos in the show. Its going to be beautiful in terms of the casts. 

What about negative characters in the show?

The story is very positive in its outlook and feel and we haven't got any stereotype negative character for the show. 

We have also got to know that the show has been shot in Paris. So tell us something about the challenges you all have come across while shooting there.

All the three cities - Paris, Mumbai and Banaras have been shot very well. The biggest challenge for us was the entire production designing of the show. I asked Gyan Chorea who is one of the top ad film makers to shoot the Paris portion to the show. He has given a very nice texture to the show.

Our other director Rohit Raj Goyal has also given a very good texture to the show with his direction. Shaan has sung the title track of the show and his company is also doing the background scores for us. Its the first time that they are doing it for television. Wasiq Khan who is known for his art direction in famous movies like Ranjhana, Ramleela, etc. has designed the set of this show and its his first time for television. The entire team, from the creative, costume, sound, camera, etc. have tried to give a new texture to the show. The costumes are real and we have got some seasoned stylists to emphasize on fashion aspect of the show. On Cameraman Satish has done a fabulous job in creating the visual and texture. In DKP (Director's Kut Productions) we always try to explore and give a different texture to the show. The production designing of the show has been a learning experience for us.

What is the USP of the show?

There is a lot of positivity on the show. It's a show of the year 2015. It talks very realistically about our relationships and values. It has a beautiful amalgamation of everything so that even a youth and the audience watching family drama will connect to it. A lot of emphasis has been put on the look and style of the show but at the same time, the content too has been made relatable to the audience. The biggest challenge has been to make it look beautiful along with making the story and content relatable to the audience. Every character has been beautifully defined in the show. As the story will unfold, the romance will be the biggest USP of the show.

Is the show also going to convey a message?

The message of the show is all about the self realization about the real relationships in case of an economic crash down. We should be equally comfortable in travelling in a Mercedes and travelling in a bus or walking down the road. We should know about our real relationships.

Now you have two shows airing back to back on Star Plus...

Quite a few years back, we had Bidaai and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai airing back to back on the same channel. Now, again we have Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Tere Seher Mein airing back to back in an hour's time slot. I am really honored that Star Plus has given me this opportunity again so it's a sense of responsibility for us now. Yeh Rishta will also be experiencing some interesting changes and twists further.

What are your expectations?

I am very happy and would like to acknowledge the entire team associated with the show be it the Star Plus team, the DKP team and the actors who have put in a lot of hard work for the show. We have put our best to make a show with which the audience will connect to. Now, its up to the audience whether we have met up to their expectations or not.
