Taylor Swift Had a Say in It Ends With Us Casting? Justin Baldoni Reveals Amid Blake Lively Legal Battle

Director Justin Baldoni recently revealed in a resurfaced interview that Taylor Swift had a role in casting Isabela Ferrer for It Ends With Us. During an interview with Access Hollywood, Baldoni shared that he showed Ferrer’s audition tape to both Blake Lively and Taylor Swift. Both of them instantly approved her. "I had actually brought in and showed her casting tape to Blake and Taylor, and they were both, like, 'Yes! Her,'" Baldoni stated, as reported by Page Six.

Isabela Ferrer, who plays the younger version of Lively’s character, Lily, confirmed Swift’s involvement. At the film’s premiere, Ferrer admitted she was surprised to learn about Swift’s role in her casting. "I don't even know if I'm supposed to be saying it, but I'm saying it! Yeah, she was a helpful part of the process," Ferrer shared.

Blake Lively, who leads the film, revealed that she personally reached out to Swift to use My Tears Ricochet for the trailer and soundtrack. In an August 2024 interview, Lively said, "I think that, for better or worse, she experienced the whole thing with me." She also spoke about the film’s limited budget and thanked Swift for allowing the use of her song.

Despite their collaboration, Swift’s name has now been dragged into Baldoni’s legal fight with Lively. In January, Baldoni filed a $400 million lawsuit against Lively, accusing her of defamation and extortion.

According to reports, the lawsuit mentions a meeting at Lively’s home, attended by Ryan Reynolds and Swift. Lively allegedly called Swift and Reynolds her "dragons" in a text message, implying their backing in creative decisions. Sources say Swift is upset about being linked to the dispute and is distancing herself. The trial is scheduled for March 9, 2026, and it remains unclear if Swift will testify.
