Taapsee Pannu to play cricketer Mithali Raj?

Biopic of sports personalities is currently a trend in Bollywood as in a span of last few years we saw many biopics being made on sportspersons whether it be Mary Kom or MS Dhoni. And while Parineeti is gearing up for Saina Nehwal biopic and Ranveer Singh is busy with '83, actress Taapsee Pannu might be stepping into the shoes of Indian women's cricket team captain Mithali Raj.

As per a report in Mumbai Mirror, Taapsee has given her nod but she's yet to sign the film officially. A close source told the daily, "The formalities will be done once the studio (Viacom 18) has a director on board. They have also locked the story but the script is still being developed."

"The film is expected to roll next year and Taapsee will undergo rigorous training in cricket as part of her prep," added the source.

Last year when PTI asked Taapsee about the biopic, the actress was quoted saying, "The script is not in place so it's too early to talk about it. Right now, they are collecting material and the script has not been written yet. If they offer me, I will be very happy. I really want to do a sports biopic."

For the unaware, Mithali is the highest run scorer in the women's international cricket.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Taapsee Pannu was last seen in Badla alongside Amitabh Bachchan and the actress will be next seen in Saand Ki Aankh alongside Bhumi Pednekar. The film is being produced by Anurag Kashyap and is directed by Tushar Hiranandani.
