Sunny Deol Reveals Sonu Nigam Played His Younger Version In Betaab, Shares Fun Memories On Indian Idol 15

While discussing his debut film Betaab (1983), co-starring Amrita Singh, he revealed an interesting fact—singer Sonu Nigam played his childhood character in the movie. The revelation surprised many fans, as Sonu later became one of India’s most celebrated playback singers.

During his appearance, Sunny Deol shared a fond memory of filming the song Jab Hum Jawan Honge from Betaab. He recalled that unexpected weather changes caused delays, but the atmosphere on set felt more like a picnic than a stressful film shoot. "It was one of my most enjoyable experiences. Everything felt so natural and fun," he said.

The Gadar 2 actor also mentioned that many people don’t know Sonu Nigam played his childhood character in Betaab. This fun fact left the audience in awe, as Sonu went on to make a name for himself in the music industry rather than acting.

When rapper Badshah, who was also on the show, asked Sunny about his decision to join films, he revealed that acting was not always on his mind. "As a child, I never thought about becoming an actor. But watching my father, Dharmendra, I felt acting was in my genes," he said.

Sunny further shared that he was quite shy in his youth. To overcome this, he studied theatre abroad, which helped him gain confidence. "At 19-20, I knew I wanted to act, but I needed to work on myself. Theatre gave me that push," he added. His journey began with Betaab and continued with films like Arjun and Dakait.
