Suniel Shetty recently grabbed attention at the grand trailer launch of his upcoming period drama Kesari Veer. The event, filled with excitement and anticipation, took an interesting turn when a journalist brought up the current wave of patriotic films, especially highlighting Akshay Kumar’s frequent appearances in the genre.
The question led to an unexpected but honest response from Shetty. Addressing the journalist directly, he clarified, “Akshay is a superstar, but I'm talking about myself. My last film didn’t perform well. No matter what, tickets don’t sell. People love me a lot, but maybe I’m someone they prefer to watch for free,” he said candidly, drawing laughter and applause for his humility.
When asked whether fans might get to see him and Akshay together in a Deshbhakti film, Suniel Shetty offered a witty reply: “Hera Pheri! That’s a patriotic film. It can keep the country happy.” He added, “The problem with today’s youth is that they’re not mentally fulfilled. Hera Pheri is for you guys, so you can be mentally happy. Everything in our country is amazing. We feed people and make them laugh. And with a partner like Babu Bhaiya (Paresh Rawal), you don’t even have to ask!”
This humorous take not only showcased Shetty’s light-hearted nature but also gave fans a hint about the much-awaited Hera Pheri 3, which is currently under production and has officially begun filming.
Meanwhile, the trailer for Kesari Veer set the tone for an epic historical saga. Suniel Shetty stars as the fearless warrior Vegda Ji, leading his people with unshakable bravery. The film also features Sooraj Pancholi as Veer Hamirji Gohil, an unsung hero of history, and Vivek Oberoi as the menacing antagonist Zafar Khan. Newcomer Akanksha Sharma makes her debut as Rajal, a fierce warrior aiding in the mission to protect a sacred temple.
Produced by Kanubhai Chauhan under the Chauhan Studios banner, and presented by Panorama Studios, Kesari Veer is slated to hit theatres on May 16, 2025. As for Hera Pheri 3, while the release date is yet to be officially announced, excitement is already building.
