After Squid Game 2, the whole world has woken up to the acting talent of Park Sung-Hoon. In 2023-24, he has shown his tremendous range as an actor whether it is The Glory or Queen Of Tears. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Park Sung-hoon spoke about how nervous he was as a cisgender man to take up the role of a transgender woman. He reiterated that Hwang Dong-Hyuk and he did not want Hyun-Ju to be a caricature. They wanted a character that was a born leader. He said he spoke to his friends from the LGBTQIA community before he took up the role. Sung-Hoon said it would be worthwhile if his character did a little something to lessen the discrimination faced by them.
Park Sung-Hoon was a part of Queen Of Tears where he played Yoon Eun Sung who was obsessed with Hae-In (the main female lead). Fans are gushing over his negative role in The Glory where he played the psychotic heir to a country estate and a bully. He said that he does not go so deep into his characters that they affect his psyche. He said playing villain parts do leave him a bit irritable.
But because Hyun-ju is such a warm-hearted person, I think she affected me in a positive way, even when I was playing a villain in Queen of Tears at the same time.
