Social networks like Twitter and Facebook have been instrumental in bridging the gap between celebrities and their fans. People like Karan Johar, Shah Rukh Khan, Vivek Oberoi and Priyanka Chopra all have thousands of followers, who are now voyeuristically a part of their lives, being in the loop on what they are doing, what they are eating, what they are drinking, and so on.
There are several 'Katrina Kaifs' on Twitter and Facebook, but the
real Katrina does not have an account on either. She believes that
celebrities should maintain some degree of aloofness from their fans. In
her opinion, there's not much point in paying to see these celebrities
on-screen, when one is so connected to them anyway.
We here at Bollycurry feel that Kat shouldn't be so dismissive of
social networks! These have changed the relationship between celebrities
and their fans for the better. Nonetheless, celebrities should maintain
a little bit of distance ' fans don't really need to know what an actor
is eating!
