Tamil audiences have a special place in their hearts for Simran. The actress has done movies with every top hero like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Sarathkumar to name a few. The actress was at an event ‘Just For Women’ where she harshly revealed how women pull each other down in the industry. The actress said that she had sent a message to a fellow actress about her recent role saying that she was surprised to see her in a such a character. Simran said the lady replied back saying it was better than doing Aunty roles. Simran, who looked visibly hurt said she felt it was better to do nuanced well-written Aunty roles than do Dabba roles.
Fans have assumed that she is talking about Jyothika who starred in the series, Dabba Cartel. The series from Excel Entertainment is about a group of women from the suburbs who shake up a pharma syndicate. The series brought together actresses like Shabana Azmi, Nimisha Sajayan, Shalini Pandey, Jyothika, Sai Tamhankar with an ensemble cast. Many fans have assumed it is Jyothika. People have even dragged in Trisha Krishnan. However, Jyothika in a recent interview herself admitted that Bollywood writes better roles for women than South filmmakers. Fans said that what Simran did in a movie like Kannathil Muthamittal is beyond what Jyothika or Laila ever did in their careers. The Mani Ratnam movie was about an adopted Sri Lankan child who wants to meet her biological mother. Well, Simran does look visibly pained as she discussed this on stage.
