AR Murugadoss have a 'surprise element'

The man behind the blockbuster film Ghajini- AR Murugadoss is set to unveil his latest cinematic venture, "Sikandar," featuring Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna in their first collaboration. The director recently hinted at a captivating "surprise element" woven into the narrative, reminiscent of his 2008 masterpiece with Aamir Khan and Asin. This element, he revealed, revolves around the theme of love.

In a recent interview with ETimes, Murugadoss addressed the question of whether "Sikandar" would possess the same emotional depth as "Ghajini." He affirmed that it would, emphasizing that the film's core is built upon profound familial emotions, transcending the genre of a mere mass entertainer.

The filmmaker further elaborated that while "Ghajini" showcased a romantic narrative between a boyfriend and girlfriend, "Sikandar" will delve into the intricate bond between a husband and wife. Murugadoss highlighted that the film's central focus will be on exploring the dynamics of modern families and couples, shedding light on the evolving nature of relationships and the potential shortcomings within them.

Though Ghajini seemed to be a psycho thriller to the audience, the love story of Aamir and Asin was the surprise element. Similarly, here there's an element of love that will move the audience

- AR Murugadoss

In the interview, AR Murugadoss characterized "Sikandar," starring Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna, as a "mass" film with a strong emotional foundation, drawing parallels to "Ghajini" featuring Aamir Khan and Asin. He noted that viewers initially perceived "Ghajini" as solely an action thriller, but the love story emerged as its emotional core. "Similarly, 'Sikandar' has that surprise element—an intense, husband-wife story at its heart," the director concluded.

Aamir Khan, in a gesture of support, extended his best wishes to the "Sikandar" team ahead of its release. During a media interaction prior to his 60th birthday, the actor expressed his admiration for his "Ghajini" director, AR Murugadoss. Aamir stated, "Toh Murugadoss aur Salman ka combination dekhne mein maza aayega hum logon ko (So, we will enjoy watching the combination of Murugadoss and Salman)."

Joining Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna in "Sikandar" are Sathyaraj, Prateik Babbar, Kajal Aggarwal, and Sharman Joshi. Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, the film is slated for a theatrical release on March 30, 2025.
