Shubhangi Atre's ex-husband Piyush Poorey passes away due to liver issues; actress in mourning

Shubhangi Atre is currently mourning the loss of her ex-husband, Piyush Poorey, who passed away on Saturday due to liver cirrhosis. The couple had been married for 22 years before finalizing their divorce earlier this year on February 5, 2025. Although they had not been in contact after parting ways, the news of his passing has deeply affected Shubhangi, who has requested privacy during this emotional time.

Piyush was a digital marketing expert and had been undergoing treatment for liver cirrhosis for a while. He and Shubhangi tied the knot in 2003 and share a daughter named Ashi. A close source revealed that even though the two were not communicating post-divorce, Shubhangi is heartbroken by the news. She resumed shooting for her ongoing show, Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai, on Sunday, showing strength despite her personal grief.

Earlier, in an interview discussing her separation, Shubhangi had shared the emotional toll the divorce took on her. She said, "It was painful. I was fully invested in the relationship. Over time, Piyush and I developed irreconcilable differences. However, now that I’m out of that marriage, I feel a sense of peace, like a burden has been lifted. My focus is now on raising my daughter in a happy and secure environment."

Shubhangi continues to play the role of Angoori Bhabhi in the hit sitcom Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai. Despite facing personal turmoil, she remains committed to her work, earning appreciation for her strength and professionalism.
