Shruti Rawat aka Manisha from 'Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai' says, "I love playing different roles as an actor"

Actress Shruti Rawat, who plays the role of Manisha in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata hai, says that she doesn’t like the fame that accompanies success in the industry. She adds that she loves playing different roles as an actor, and that’s what she loves about the profession.

“Honestly, people usually like fame, and they want to be famous and be known. They like the feeling of going to the mall and then everybody praising them and taking pictures with them. I am completely the opposite, I am an exception, I don't like fame. I am doing this work because I love the craft of acting. I love living the lives of the characters that I have played. For me the life of Shruti and Manisha is another high, it's amazing. It is so beautiful and exciting for me, so the pro of being an actor is being able to pursue the thing that I love doing. I woke up excited to get to work. That is a very blessed feeling that anybody can have. I love my job but I don't like the fame, I don't know why,” she says.

Talking about the TV industry, she says, “The TV industry has evolved in terms of content. The content is very progressive now. Even the camera and the look of the show, the lighting and everything has really evolved for the better. But also one thing I have done TV mostly from 2008 to 2015 because I think that was the peak. I was doing a lot of television, and social media was not that big of a deal at that time, and it became a lot bigger during COVID-19, so we didn't really experience so much exposure that time. It used to be very intimate, very private, and very personal. Now it has become very public because of that so I think that has been a difference. Everything is now out there and seen in the world because of social media.”

Ask her how this role is different from what she has played so far, and she says, “Before this, the character that I was doing was Gujarati. And because I have done a lot of Gujarati characters in the past 3-4 shows, one of which ran pretty long for three years. So I was still carrying that accent somewhere and here now because Manisha is Marwadi, the first day the director told me that you are still getting that accent a little bit because it is a little hard for that to go away. So that took a little time. But then I am back to learning Hindi and a little bit of Marwadi.”
