Shell-shocked by the fury of nature!

"For when nature gets wild, no man can stand." Something similar was faced by the state of Uttarakhand. India has faced its largest devastation of this millennium. Just by the news of these floods, number of deaths and the number of people still stranded in the Chaar Dhaam i.e. Badrinaath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri our stars of tellyland are left dumb struck! They share with Tellybuzz as to what they feel about this menace –

When I had heard of this unfortunate event, I couldn't believe it. I was in a shock. My prayers and positive wishes are with the ones who are still stuck there and also with their families. I know of people who were stuck there but by the grace of God they are back now. I just came to know yesterday that a pilot friend has been on the rescue mission at that place since four days helping to bring people back safely. Its good to know that people are not waiting and sitting for government to do something, but are acting upon in their own little ways.

But at the same time I am very disappointed, rather disgusted with few people taking undue advantage of this situation by charging 200 rupees for a bottle of water and 500 rupees for a bowl of vegetable. I have also heard of few cases of looting and molesting women stuck there. This is shameful.

It is unfortunate and heart breaking to see the loss of so many human lives and destructions at this level. This is such a shameful incident that in spite of the warning given by the weather broadcast about the bad weather and heavy rains, it fell on the deaf ears of the Prashasan. Hats off to the Indian Army for their prompt and honest rescue mission. Salute to all the 'Jawaans'. Itne bade dardnaak, vinaashak haadse ke baad, abhi bhi dosh – pratyadosh aur dosharopan ka silsila chal raha hain ki KAUN zimmedaar hai?!?! This is so painful and saddening! It is high time that people start realizing things and should start doing something for humanity and human life. Jago Bharat Jago!!

Well, I am really no one to have an opinion on such a critical situation. This is very, very sad. So many people are still stuck in Badrinath. Moreover, at this point of time I see only Indian Army working hard and trying their level best to rescue people. There is only one chopper who is doing the entire rescue work. I seriously do not know at what level the government is working. I wish the Indian Army were provided with better amenities. This is shocking that even in such bad state people are thinking of making money. The Parle G biscuits, which we get for four rupees, are sold for 2000 rupees. As an individual, I do not know how to help. I come from an army background and that is what I was trying to figure out how I could help these flood affected people. Google has come up with a website called 'Person Finder'; for now that is the only way, we can find people and spread awareness.

Obviously, this is very sad. So many people have lost their lives and thousands of people are still stranded. However, the Indian Army is doing its best. Army is called during such ultimate crisis. In addition, with all those laws and work restrictions, our Army is doing a good job. Helping these flood affected people is a combined effort of many people. I will surely be a part of such an association who is willingly helping these people.

Our Indian Army is doing their best to rescue people who are still stuck. Having said that, our disaster management team is very bad. There is no proper foresight. Our leaders are busy filling their pockets all the while. I understand that this is an Act of God, but some measures need to be taken. So many buildings are constructed near the river, with no good drainage system. This indeed has caused such a disaster. This is very frustrating. After the July 26 floods in Mumbai, what measures and precautions are taken by the government? Thankfully, by the grace of God, no such floods have hit Mumbai again. When I think of people in Uttarakhand, my heart goes out. My first reaction is to go there and personally help people. If I give money, I will always be in a fear whether it even reaches to the right person or not.

We, the entire team of Tellybuzz, pray for the people who are affected by these enormous floods and hope that these dark clouds soon show a ray of hope.
