Shaleen Bhanot's Cute Love Story

Shaleen blushes, he is excited as he says, “Yes, I am in love. One day, I was driving thro’ the bumper to bumper traffic in Mumbai, was going to the sets, when I saw a girl standing on the road, trying to cross the road. She was a very sweet looking girl, wearing a white suit; I looked at her, she looked at me, as she was about to cross. I kept on seeing her, then stopped my car, allowed her to cross. She then got into her car, and as we moved slowly in the heavy traffic, our cars stood side by side after few minutes. I was seeing her, she was seeing me. I could not take my eyes off this graceful beauty, she had blue eyes and was so simple, but nice. As this happened, I got a call from my scheduler, and even before he talked, I told him, I am not coming for shoot today. I am in love, there is a girl near me in a car, and I am going to follow her, go to her house. Cancel my shoot.(laughs) I don’t know why I said all this to him, I probably meant to be cracking a joke, but this news spread like wildfire and all in my unit got to know of this in no time.”

So did you manage to follow her and go to her house? “Well, we were caught in the traffic for 45 minutes, and it was typical 70’s ka love story for me, wherein ‘Aankhon Hi Aankhon Main’ stuff. By then, my producer who got this news, called me, asked what was going on. I told him the same thing, that I am in love. But this traffic love story had to end somewhere and she took the left turn while I had to go straight.” So was this ‘The End’ to this cute love story? “No, I managed to note down her car number, then somehow got her address from the RTO. (laughs).” So did you go and meet her? “Yes, I called her landline and started talking to a girl, assuming it was her. Later I got to know that it was her sister. I then talked to her, called her to meet up.We met at a coffee shop. And all was so fun.”

So has Shaleen found his love now? “No, we talked as friends, I told her that I like her. She said she recognized me as Agni, so was looking at me. This crushed my heart, as Shaleen was pushed to the background.. (laughs). I had the ‘Surma’ that Madan wears in Sangam, when I met her for the first time. So she said, she recognized me as Agni by my Surma.. But, all was such good fun, she now gives me expert tips on how to improvise in acting, she is a good friend now.”

So what does the future have in store? Well, many hearts will break if Shaleen gets his dream girl, that’s for sure. “No, as of now, there is nothing like that on cards. The whole unit of Sangam gives me tips daily on my love life. My Producer always advises me to do this, say this and not do that. So its real fun when we talk about this cute little incident.”, signs off Shaleen.
