The ongoing farmers protest across India has been gaining momentum and the protesters have even called for ‘Bharat Band’ today, on December 8, 2020.

As the famers continue to express their displeasure over the new Farmer’s Bill, unrest reaches at peak in the states of Punjab and Haryana. The protests also seem to have affected the shooting of films in those states.

According to reports, the shooting of Shahid Kapoor’s sports drama Jersey was deterred due to the ongoing farmers protest. Shahid, along with co star Mrunal Thakur and director Gowtam Tinnanuri was to shoot a major portion of the film in Chandigarh before heading out to Dehradun and Kasauli. However, owing to turn current scenario, the makers decided to cancel the Chandigarh schedule and move directly to Dehradun.

Days into the shoot in Chandigarh, the makers felt it would be difficult to pull off the remaining shoot amid the current scenario. So, the team quickly changed their plan and headed to Dehradun last week” a source informs Mid Day.

Shahid and Mrunal are expected to return back to Chandigarh for the last leg of the schedule as they have about three days' work left in the city.

Talking about Jersey, the film is a Hindi remake of a South film, which featured Nani in the lead role. The producer of the original, Dil Raju, will be helming the Hindi remake as well. While Shahid plays a retired cricketer, Mrunal Thakur plays the female lead and also stars Pankaj Tripathi in a pivotal role. The release date is yet to be announced.
