Bollywood heartthrob Shahid Kapoor is all set to cast his magic in the OTT space as well. He will be making his much awaited digital debut with Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK of The Family Man fame in a crime web series.
On Monday, Shahid hosted an Instagram live session with his fans as he celebrated two years to his film Kabir Singh. During the live chat, he opened up about shooting Kabir Singh, his upcoming film Jersey and his digital debut among other things.
Ahead of his debut, Shahid says that he is "nervous" as he believed that audience who like a star on big screen, may or may not like the star on a digital platform. He said:
"I'm very nervous about making my digital debut because I really feel that actors who might have been liked and loved on the big screen, might or might not be appreciated on a digital platform. You can't just be okay if people like you for a couple of hours. They need to be interested in your character, connect with you and you need to hold their attention for 9-10 episodes. I don't think I'm experienced in that space. So it would be interesting to see how people react to me on that platform.”
Shahid shares how he has always wanted to feature in a long-form content as it provides more time to enhance the character.
"Most of the time when I've finished my movies, whether it was Haider or Kabir Singh, I always used to hope I've been able to bring out every aspect of this character. When you have more time, it allows you to share more of him with the audience.”
However, the 40 year old actor remained tight-lipped and said he was "not allowed to say much" but confirmed that the web series is very different from anything that he has ever done.
“It's going to be exciting. It's a quirky crime drama.”
The show is co-written by Sita R Menon, Suman Kumar and Hussain Dalal. Created, Written and Directed by Raj and DK, this is Raj and DK’s next collaboration after The Family Man, the Shahid Kapoor starrer web series will premiere on Amazon Prime Video.
