Shahid Kapoor has this ability to instantly make you feel comfortable - Jersey's Abhishek Madrecha

The much-awaited release of Shahid Kapoor’s Jersey has met with an overwhelming response from fans who are in awe of the Hindi remake. While the Udta Punjab and Kabir Singh star has nailed it yet again with his performance, the film also features some interesting faces who are like a breath of fresh air. One such actor is Abhishek Madrecha, who is essaying the role of ‘Virendra’ aka ‘Viru’ who is the Vice Captain of the team, Abhishek opens up about his experience, working with Shahid Kapoor and a lot more!

Speaking about how he bagged the role in the film, he says, 

“It’s quite a personal achievement for someone like me who comes with no filmy connections to even win a part like this and share screen space with acting legends. Jersey was truly a dream journey for me and I have Mukesh Chhabra Sir and Harry Parmar Sir for believing in me. I had auditioned for the part in 2019 and after the auditions and looks test, we had to undergo an intensive training on field. The character required a certain level of physical fitness and despite being a cricket enthusiast myself, there was so much more to learn once we hit the field for our training sessions.”

Abhishek’s character ‘Viru’ is seen having his share of ups and downs with Arjun (Shahid Kapoor) in the film. Speaking about Shahid, he shares, 

“Shahid is extremely humble as a person. His sincerity with his craft and commitment to a project is something I truly admire. I remember, before my first shot with Shahid, I was on the edge but he has this ability to instantly make you feel comfortable with his warm energy and smile. He’s equally fun to hang out with both on and off camera and that made the entire shooting experience quite a fun ride. Each scene with him was a learning experience and that’s my biggest takeaway.”

An actor and a boy-next-door from Mumbai, Abhishek has had quite a colourful journey in films. Having started out with ad films and commercials, he has worked across television, web-series and feature films. Speaking about the kind of roles he aspires for, he candidly shares, “I crave performance-oriented roles. I would love to be a part of biopics, mythological scripts and truly tell stories that make a difference. I’m absolutely open to exploring new genres and challenging roles that come my way.”
