Shaheer Sheikh is back on television with Rajan Shahi's Woh Toh Hai Albelaa. And well, the actor seems to be getting quite the rave reviews so far. He spoke to India Forums about the character, his inspiration, the fashion game, and some more. Read the conversation with him here.
You've played various shades, how is Kanha different, and what do you have to say about the character?
Kanha is very different. Maybe some people might see glimpses of Abir (character from Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke) in this character, but Abir wasn't like that. It is different and is inspired by real life. We see in our neighborhood, especially in smaller cities, you will find such guys, people will be able to relate. All characters are such that the people will be able to relate, and I hope the youth connects to it too and see the character because it represents them to a certain extent.
The show has song sequences for all characters, how was the experience?
I think that's the idea and that's what I like about DKP and Rajan sir, that what is the platform and where is it coming, be it regional channel or anything, he gives his best. When we started shooting, Hyderabad wasn't planned but he wanted to give his best and it was a last moment thing. I am glad somebody took this decision.
You clearly are a fashionista in the show, how was it like to get the looks? What was your source of inspiration, if any?
We have tried that visually, it looks like that. I feel when I wear such clothes, and don such looks, to an extent, I am reminded of those boys, the vloggers and influencers, so we take the inspiration from real life only.
Everyone showed me content and footage for me to get inspired. I did do my research too. There was this tour guy in Agra, he had this flamboyance, and the body language and the way he talked, and we have tried to take from him, not completely though, because it is a Hindi GEC, but yes.
How is the off-screen bond with the on-screen brothers, given the show is all about relations?
We have a lot of fun, we trouble each other a lot, we are brothers on-screen and we have a lot of scenes together. We have had the most fun in our bedroom, because we are showing staying in the same room, and then there's an elder sister, and the relationships are shown beautifully in DKP shows, like you said, and that's the case here.
You've been keeping busy with back to back shows. How do you manage time for family, including your little one?
It has been difficult and challenging to manage, but we've seen the pandemic as well and a lot of us were home. Of course, I want to give time, but there are added responsibilities too, so I am trying to do my best and manage between work and personal life.
