Sanjana Sanghi on reports of MeToo allegations leveled against Sushant Singh Rajput: "You can’t pay heed to every rumor that comes out"

The false reports of sexual misconduct were allegedly leveled against Sushant Singh Rajput by his Dil Bechara co-star Sanjana Sanghi in 2018. He then released the screenshots of his chat with his co-star and put out a statement clearing the air. Apart from that, even Sanjana in her statement had said, ‘no such incident took place.’

Now, in a recent interaction with Pinkvilla, Sanjana spilled the beans about all the allegations leveled against him and revealed why it took her long time to clarify the sexual misconduct allegations against the late actor.

Everyone thinks only Sushant was the one troubled there but I was as troubled. We knew our truth - I know what he meant to me, he knew what he meant to me and that’s what is important. We were on set shooting every day. When one or two articles come, you can’t pay heed to every rumor that comes out, so you just let it go.

The 23-year-old actress then called out the misleading reports ‘baseless’ and said she has no respect for them. She also revealed, ‘how difficult it was for two people who actually adore each other.’

Sanjana added, “Nothing changed between us because there was nothing. All that happened was, ‘How should we make them believe the truth?’ Imagine what a sad state of affairs it is for two people who actually adore each other to have to sit back and be like, ‘How do we prove it?’ He was like, ‘Should I put out these chats?’ I said, ‘Go for it, maybe that will help.’ So he put up the chats but still people were refusing to believe it. Then I, the girl who has supposedly accused the boy, put out a clarification. Even that didn’t work.”

Meanwhile, on the work front, Sanjana Sanghi marks her acting debut with Dil Bechara, whereas the film will also mark director Mukesh Chhabra’s debut. Apart from Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjana Sanghi, the film also stars Saif Ali Khan and is scheduled for a digital premiere on July 24, 2020, on the streaming platform Disney+ Hotstar.
