Sambhavna Seth's IVF miscarriage was a result of medical negligence? Actress recounts painful horror

Sambhavna Seth has fought many battles in her life, and one of her most traumatizing ones was trying to conceive through IVF. She has been married to Avinash Dwivedi for almost a decade. In a conversation with Gauahar Khan, she said that medical negligence led to the miscarriage. It seems she had been bleeding for a few days but the doctor told her that it was fine. The couple came to know about genetic abnormalities in the embryo after the first trimester.

She said the pain and disappointment of the miscarriage left a huge impact on her mind. Sambhavna Seth said after her father died, she struggled to come on terms with his absence. It seems she was on anxiety and depression medicines for a long time, which led to weight gain. Sambhavna said at times she felt she was a zombie. She said, “I was very close to my father. Before my father, my mother’s health was already very bad. She was completely bedridden. So she remained bedridden for five years.”

The loss of her parents affected her deeply. After her dad’s demise, she underwent IVF attempts but they did not yield results. She said she does not even remember the number of attempts now. Sambhavna Seth said she was hopeful every time.

“And in every cycle, people who are watching think what’s the big deal? Got an injection, IVF done, over. But what happens here (in the mind) and what happens here (in the heart) only we know.”

It seems she had finally conceived a child but she had a miscarriage. Due to her bleeding issue, she did two or three scans but the tests did not show any issues. However, the main scan revealed she had lost the child. It seems she was poised to announce her pregnancy to the world, and had even done a shoot. She had consulted a couple of doctors but one of them dismissed the pain as arthritis.

She explained the procedure and risks of an IVF pregnancy are huge. In normal pregnancies, genetic testing happens around fifth month. In IVF cases, embryos are tested via PGT. She had asked her doctor to do the test but the medical practitioner refused to do the same.
