Salim Khan reveals the tough talk he had with Salman Khan: "'I don’t wish you to inherit any of my habits"

Veteran screenwriter and Salman Khan’s father, Salim Khan, recently opened up about his deep and emotional bond with his superstar son. In a heartfelt chat with Magic Moments, he shared personal moments that show the kind of strict yet caring father he has been over the years.

Salim Khan revealed that while he has scolded all his children, Salman, being the eldest, faced the brunt of it. “I have scolded all of them, but Salman has had it the worst from me, particularly since he is the eldest among them,” he said. He also recalled a moment when Salman mentioned that his habits were similar to his father’s. To this, Salim replied, “Son, it may be a compliment for you, but not for me. Please understand that I don’t wish you to inherit any of my habits.”

Talking about his own upbringing, Salim Khan remembered how strict his father was. “I would be scared stiff the moment I heard his leather boots on the floor,” he shared. Because of that experience, Salim always wanted to raise his children differently. “I wanted my kids to be my friends,” he said.

Despite the friendly bond, Salim Khan admitted there were moments of serious silence between him and Salman. He revealed there were times when he did not speak to Salman for months. “That has happened, yes. If he does something I don’t like or I feel that he has done something wrong, then I don’t talk to him,” he shared.

He described how Salman would quietly walk past him or sneak out of the house. But later, Salman would return, say sorry, and admit his mistake. Salim reflected, “Something I have noticed is that whenever a person succeeds in life, they end up forgetting one thing: their growth as a human being.”

His words reflect the balance of love, discipline, and wisdom he has tried to pass on to his children, especially to Salman.
