Sai Ketan Rao reminds me of the younger version of myself: Geeta Tyagi of ‘Mehndi Hai Rachne Wali’

Star Plus show ‘Mehndi Hai Rachne Wali’ is getting a lot of love from the fans. Recently, the fans revolted against a particular track in the show which resulted in the makers altering the track as per fans’ demand. The current track of the show revolves around Pallavi and Raghav re-uniting to fight against Mandar.

While the viewers are in the awe of Raghav and Pallavi played by actors Sai Ketan Rao and Shivangi Khedkar, they’re also loving almost everyone from the show. India Forums got in touch with Geeta Tyagi who plays the character of Jaya (Amma) in the show. 

In a candid chat, Geeta opened up on replacing another actress for the role and the challenges that she faced. She said, “Honestly, I’ve been working since a lot of time in the industry. People are habituated to see me in some role or the other and thus it wasn’t really difficult to strike a chord with the viewers as I’m a familiar face. Had it been a lesser-known face, the acceptance would take a little longer. Having said that, it was surely challenging to ace the dialect as I’m playing a South India mother for the first time. Audience warmly accepted and welcomed me on the show”.

Talking about her bond with onscreen son Sai Ketan Rao, Geeta added, “Well, Sai is a very passionate actor. Very well mannered and sincere. He is so focused and dedicated that I often ask him to relax. Even if we’re rehearsing, he puts in his hundred percent and gives his all. I often suggest him to calm down during rehearsals. The other day, I gave him a suggestion that he should reserve his energy as he is working for a daily soap. Giving his all in rehearsals would drain him. I can relate to him a lot as he reminds me of my younger version. Initially, I was also too pumped up but with time I realize it’s better to slow down and reserve energy as it can be taxing later. All and all, I share a great bond with him. It’s wonderful to work with actors who are so focused and determined”.

When ask about the feedback from fans that she has received, Geeta added, “Few years back, we weren’t well equipped to get feedback from fans, we used to only know about the response when we used to step out. Now, because of social media, the fans are able to give us the feedback daily and I’m so glad that I can know about their views. The involvement that the fans have shown to the Rao family and the show is phenomenal. I feel that we’ve managed to make a space in their lives. They discuss and give feedback on almost all the scenes. They’ve been loving Jaya’s character and often wish to have a mother like her. I mean, it’s great to learn that your hardwork is paid if the fans appreciate the actors”.
