For those who do not know, Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated sharply following a deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, 2025. The attack resulted in the deaths of 27 individuals, including 25 Hindu tourists, a Christian tourist, and a local Muslim, and injured more than 20 others. The Resistance Front (TRF), believed to be linked to the Pakistan-based group Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for the attack. In response, India launched “Operation Sindoor” on May 7, targeting alleged terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. The operation involved missile strikes on nine locations, including Bahawalpur and Muridke, which India identified as hubs for Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba. Pakistan reported 31 civilian deaths and 46 injuries from these strikes, asserting that the targets included mosques and educational facilities. Subsequently, Pakistan conducted drone and missile attacks on Indian cities, including Amritsar, which India claims were intercepted by its S-400 missile defense system. India then carried out further operations to neutralize Pakistani air defense systems in Lahore. The ongoing hostilities have resulted in civilian casualties on both sides and have led to international calls for restraint and diplomatic resolution.
