Rupali Ganguly: People thought that I was just a fluke, but they took notice with Anupamaa

Anupamaa actress Rupali Ganguly has been around for a long time, however, she decided to take a break when she embraced motherhood. Anupamaa marked her return to the screens after 7 years and she has managed to win hearts with her titular role and has struck a chord with the audiences.

She has spoken about her return to the screens on multiple occasions and how she received the support from husband Ashwin Verma when she was first offered Anupamaa. Rupali told Bombay Times, “To be 40 plus and not have a 26-inch waist when you’re playing the lead can be challenging at times. I always wondered if it would work. You can’t predict the fate of a show. I still can’t believe it’s happening to me and hope the bubble doesn’t burst.”

She also spoke about getting the opportunity in the first place and how she has gotten her chance to prove herself. She added that she has been a part of great shows, including Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahi and Sanjivani, however, she did not want to repeat herself and as an artist, she also vied for a role that takes her a level up with people recognising her work.

As for how her career has shaped up, she said that people thought she was just a fluke, but Anupamaa changed things and she saw people noticing and found her acting good. She said that Sarabhai vs Sarabhai got people to notice her but Anupamaa gave her the platform she has always wanted. She concluded how despite not being conventionally good-looking, she has finally been recognised for her talent.
