Rucha Gujrathi bails out Payal in Waqt...

Payal Sarkar who plays the lead character of Rudra in Sony’s Waqt Batayega Kaun Apna Kaun Paraya is down with Chicken Pox. “It’s been 8 days now and it will take another 10 days before the face marks go away”, she says.

Being a very sincere worker, Payal admits that her absence is causing the show to suffer. “It's a daily and we don't have a bank, so the production house is naturally quite worried. But there is nothing I can do about it”, says the girl.

Producer Dheeraj Kumar says that they have found a solution to Payal's absence by bringing in a new character which will be played by Rucha Gujrathi. “Her character will be part of a new suspense track”, he added. Our source says that Rucha will play a false Rudra.

What about about Payal then? Dheeraj said her character will remain intact. “We at Creative Eye don't believe in firing people just because they fall sick and can’t report for shooting”. Although initially the creative had planned to have Rucha only until Payal can return to work, they don't deny the possibility of extending her track, if it gets popular as well.

Payal who had previously played the female lead in SAB TV’s Love Story is quite happy as she got to play two completely different characters. “While Shruti was quite head strong and determined, Rudra is sweet and docile”, says Payal.

Asked as to what went wrong with Love Story she says diplomatically, “Not all shows are successful”. But when we probed further she said that one of the reasons for the show not doing well could be the lack of promotion. “Despite it being such a good show, hardly anybody knew about it”, she rued.
