The year 2019 was a visual treat to the audience in the form of web series with interesting storylines, twists and what-not. What adds to this are the fresh faces that entered the digital space this year. We are already aware of the fact that the digital industry is setting up new parameters for the Bollywood and Television actors. This year witnessed many actors who made their digital debut on OTT platforms and experimented with the medium.
These actors made their digital foray winning the hearts of the audience and of course, wooing their fans:-
Abrar Qazi after entering the Bollywood and Television space set his foot in the digital world with Amazon Prime Video's thriller series, The Family Man. In a show that was led by Manoj Bajpai, it was a huge feat for him to achieve substantial screen time and even make an impact.
Gaurav Arora
ALT Balaji's Broken But Beautiful came back with a second season this year and while the show is all about Vikrant Massey and Harleen Sethi's on-screen chemistry, it can be a task for a fresh actor to be noticed. However, actor and model Gaurav Arora who has worked in Love Games and Raaz Reboot made his first digital appearance in the show and portraying the character of Ahan, his entry added more drama in the second season.
Usually a TV man, Shabbir Ahluwalia got a chance to go back to his Shootout at Lokhandwala days of sorts with his digital debut with Fixerr. Unhinged, macho and getting to exhibit his swagger, Shabbir felt more comfortable than ever in a grey character. Right, peeps?
Karan Singh Grover
In times where TV superstars were making their digital debuts, Karan Singh Grover also did the same with ALT Balaji's Boss: Baap of Special Services. The man, who also made his TV comeback this year got a chance to play starkly different characters this year.
Also joining the web world this year was Tusshar Kapoor who debuted in her sister Ekta Kapoor's ALT Balaji show, Boo: Sabki Phategi. What was interesting about this one was that Tusshar was, in fact, a part of an ensemble cast but unlike his film projects where he usually plays a supporting character, this horror-comedy was led by him.
Probably having the best year of his career, Raina was riding high on the mammoth success of Uri: The Surgical Strike from the beginning of the year, Raina continued his impressive stint with Zee 5's web series, Kaafir. Co-starring Dia Mirza, the show did amazingly well.
Former Bigg Boss winner, Gautam Gulati has been rather selective about his choice of projects ever since his Bigg Boss win. Barely a part of films and TV shows, Gautam decided to debut in the web world with Eros Now's Operation Cobra. As the name suggests, the show was about the happenings of a terrorist organisation and how a sole man is able to stop them from getting access to new technology - Gautam's Agent Condor.
Which male debut were you most impressed by? Leave in your comments below.
