Review: '1800 Life' leaves you with an afterthought; Divyenndu shines all the way

1800 Life on Amazon MiniTV is a one of its kind tale about a man contemplating suicide, but is interrupted, and what happens is not your regular thriller.

1800 Life is a reminder that in todays’ day and age we are never really alone or off the grid and technology has invaded itself into almost all the aspects of our life - for better or worse. It is the story of Vishal, a comedian, who though has seen better days has now run into a phase where his career is struggling.

Depressed, dejected and triggered by a failed show, he decides to end the agony and take his life by jumping off a multistorey building. He is interrupted by a call center type call and the conversation that follows is shocking, impossible seeming and eye opening.

The short kickstarts with a regular plot where we are introduced to Vishal's troubles and what lead him to coming to this conclusion and what is he upto. Divyenndu as Vishal is definitely a treat to watch and yet again, he manages to display his acting chops to the T. In fact, the actor does carry the short film on his shoulder given he is the one we see on-screen.

In addition, Shruthy Menon's voice as the woman on the other side of the call, also gets the voice modulation right. On more occasions than one, you sort of get why she is saying what she is saying and it seems to resonate. While we know what this might be about, it is how the plot ends that does come as a minor surprise, and for good.

Kudos to Divyenndu to get his acting right despite not really having someone to directly give him a cue or react to someone's actions. Even with a project that is just few minutes long, he shines and how. It is such instances that prove how he deserves to get bigger and better projects.

While towards the end, the VFX that we see seems a little half baked, but it is only a few seconds and that doesn't directly affect the film we see in any manner. The end, however, is a sweet but shocking surprise, and works very well in line with the narrative that we see.
