Actress Rashami Desai has expressed her dismay over a recent advertisement featuring actor Ranveer Singh alongside adult film star Johnny Sins. The advertisement, which parodies Hindi serials, has stirred controversy, with Rashami voicing her concerns on Instagram.
Known for her role in the popular Hindi show 'Uttaran', Rashami called the collaboration between Ranveer and Johnny Sins "the most unexpected collab."
She took to her Instagram stories to express her disappointment, stating that the ad mocks the Indian television industry, which she feels is unfair to those who work in it. In her post, Rashami highlighted the efforts of actors in the television industry, emphasizing that they work hard despite often being made to feel inferior.
Rashami wrote, "I’ve started my work from a regional film industry. And then started working in television industry. People call it a small screen. Where normal people watch news, cricket, all the Bollvwood films also, and much more. After watching this reel, which is highly unexpected, I felt it’s a humiliation to all the TV industry and people who work in television. Because we (are) always made feel smaller. Actors really wanna work on big screen too, this is how exactly we get treated. Everyone is working hard. But I’m sorry, TV show pe yeh sab nahi dikhate. This all happens on big screen. And nothing wrong in showing some reality but this is reality check for all the TV industry coz I feel it’s a slap. May be I am overreacting. But we show culture and love to our audience. And I am hurt coz I’ve had respectful journey in TV industry. Hope you all will understand the emotion.”
However, not everyone agrees with Rashami's criticism. Some netizens argue that parodies of all kinds exist, and the advertisement merely pokes fun at certain types of TV shows, not the entire industry.
Despite the controversy, other celebrities such as Arjun Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, and Vikrant Massey have shown support for Ranveer's advertisement. The collaboration serves as an endorsement for a sexual wellness brand and has garnered attention for its unique approach.

I love her but these things are shown on TV. Then there are viral videos on youtube and reels on insta of people laughing at such scenes. Problem is with tv makers who still create such content

She is attention seeker. It's always something. If you want the television industry to be respected then aleast stop the nonsense you call family dramas. Stop the dramas where women are treated like trash, things doesn't make sense.

Indian television is still stuck in the early 2000’s phase and are making never ending cheesy saas-bahu dramas even today. So why should it be exempt from mockery and criticism? This is exactly why I stopped watching these crappy soap operas. They keep showing the same recycled concept every few years. Web series are the best!
