Ranveer won't perform 'dark & deep' roles like Khilji! Here's why

Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh started 2018 by delivering one of the best performances of his career so far. We can still go back to watching the film only to see Ranveer Singh as the menacing and broody Alauddin Khilji. Let's admit, Sanjay Leela Bhansali got the best out of Ranveer Singh and it was for the first time that cinephiles saw Ranveer as a bad man.

With Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor playing the roles of Rani Padmavati and Maharawal Ratan Singh, respectively, Ranveer Singh was the show stealer and rightly so. Before the release of Padmaavat, Ranveer Singh openly talked about how difficult it was for him to get into the skin of Khilji and that he had locked himself for 21 days at his Goregaon house in Mumbai and isolated himself and went into a 'dark place' to prepare emotionally to essay the role of Khilji. And well, in the film, Khilji, who is a maniac obsessed with Deepika, we are sure that it took a lot of effort to play the role. 

Ahead of the release of Gully Boy, during a media interaction, the actor was quizzed if he is ready to play a role as dark and menacing as Khilji again in his career and Ranveer disapproved. "Probably not. Not anytime soon, not on the periphery. I can't go back there. Touchwood, I am very blessed that right now, I am going through a very good time. I am very happy and happily married. I am being showered with love and affection from my wife. I am in a very warm and fuzzy, happy space in life," said the actor.

Unlike 2018 when Ranveer was mentally prepared to go down the rabbit hole to play Khilji but we are in 2019 and Ranveer is a married man and because of his marital bliss, the supremely talented actor feels that he will take some time before he delivers any Khilij-like performance in his career. "To be honest, when Khilji was offered to me, I was happy even then. But, I was prepared to go down that rabbit hole. Now, I am not prepared to do that again because having done that before, I know how deep and dark it is. I don't want to do that? Not anytime soon and hopefully never. I will do this mercy on myself and not go down that path again," Ranveer said.
