On the occasion of Mother’s Day, Neetu Kapoor shared some unknown details of her relationship with her kids Ranbir Kapoor and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni.
Neetu’s husband and actor Rishi Kapoor passed away in 2020, and she says that her bond with her son Ranbir has changed henceforth. The duo now discusses movies, actors and performances together.
Neetu also recalls an adorable memory of a Mother’s Day surprise planned by her son Ranbir. While speaking to Filmfare, she shared that Ranbir was working as an assistant director in the film Black and treated her mother with his first income. She recalls that Ranbir took her out for lunch for the first time on Mother’s Day with just Rs.100. She also added that the hotel served lunches for Rs 100 or so and they had to fill the whole plate at one go. She said,
"And I was the proudest mother that day, as that was the first ever lunch my son had taken me out for."
Furthermore, Neetu also admitted to being an ‘obsessed’ mother to her kids while growing up. She said:
“I was an obsessed mother. I was so obsessed that I forgot the world for the first maybe 10 years. My friends left me, they thought I have become very boring. I had to drop them to school, pick them up… I was that crazy. I had to be home when they were there so I just didn’t meet anyone.”
However, she says that she reconnected with her friends later. Neetu had taken a break from films in 1983 to raise Ranbir and Riddhima. She then made a guest appearance in the 2009 film Love Aaj Kal.
Post the demise of her husband Rishi Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor is making her comeback with the film Jugg Jeeyo. The film also stars Anil Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani and Prajakta Koli.
