Arun Govil, renowned for his portrayal of Lord Ram in Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan, has raised his voice against the makers of Adipurush for employing various tactics to ensure the film's success. He expressed his dismay at the filmmakers' decision to meet BJP ministers and block seats for Lord Hanuman in theaters, questioning their need to experiment with a text as revered as the Ramayana.

In an interview with a news portal, Govil pondered why the makers felt the urge to toy with the divine and introduce new elements into the Ramayana. He urged them to focus on other subjects where they could exercise creative liberties without tampering with the epic. The actor's concern stemmed from the deep respect and sensitivity Indians hold towards their religious beliefs.

Govil further expressed his belief that the makers of Adipurush must have anticipated a backlash for the film, given the negative response received for its teaser and trailer. As a result, they resorted to tactics such as meeting chief ministers of BJP-ruled states and reserving a seat for Lord Hanuman in each Adipurush show to garner attention.

The actor criticized the lack of confidence displayed by the filmmakers, suggesting that their actions were akin to those of a common person or a businessman trying to safeguard themselves. Govil questioned the necessity for such measures, stating that they should have trusted the quality of their work and the popularity of the Ramayana narrative.

Adipurush, directed by Om Raut, features Prabhas as Lord Rama, Kriti Sanon as Goddess Sita, Sunny Singh as Laxman, and Saif Ali Khan as Ravana.
