Ram Gopal Verma's new find - Amruta Khanvilkar..

Reality shows in music have created stars overnight, but none of them could really make it big in the industry. However, in case of Zee Cinestars Ki Khoj, it seems to be just the opposite. It did not create stars overnight, but most of the finalists have managed to get a foothold in the industry. Few cases in point are Sharad Malhotra, Divyanka Tripathi, Uvika Chowdhury, Naman Shaw and Aditi Sharma. Next in line to make it big is the sweet-faced Amruta Khanvilkar – till now known for shows like Bollywood Tonight and Ada.

Her career has taken a quantum jump with Ram Gopal Verma announcing Amruta as the leading lady in his next two films – Contract and Phoonk. After Urmila, Antara Mali, Nisha Kothari and Jiah Khan, Amruta seems to be the new face in the RGV team.

So how did she manage to get this role? "I had worked in a film called Hattrick earlier. The assistant director of that film recommended my name to RGV and then I was called for an audition. He liked my performance and gave me a compliment that I am capable of playing roles of different ages, which is exactly what my roles in Contract and Phoonk depict," recollects Amruta.

"In Contract, I am playing the role of a young and bubbly girl, while in Phoonk my role is that of a mature woman with a de-glamorized look. I have two newcomers cast opposite me – Saurav Mahajan (in Contract) and Sudhir Sanjiv (in Phoonk) respectively," says Amruta. The announcement of Amruta being RGV's latest find comes pretty late considering the fact that both the films are close to completion. "Contract is scheduled for a release in June, while Phoonk will take few more months," informs the pretty actress.

How was it working with RGV? "Contrary to the popular belief, RGV is not a very hard taskmaster and gives a lot of freedom to the actors. For instance, he would come, narrate the character to me and set his expectations. After that, I had to enact the scene and then he would comment on whether it is right or wrong. However, I must admit that the atmosphere on the sets was pretty serious and everybody worked very intensely," explains the latest craze of Ramu.
