Tamil actor Dhanush and filmmaker Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth have officially ended their marriage. According to the recent media reports , the Chennai Family Welfare Court has granted the divorce, citing that the couple can no longer live together.
The case had been brought up for hearing on three separate occasions before, but Dhanush and Aishwaryaa had failed to attend any of the sessions. However, Aishwaryaa appeared in court on Thursday, and the judge has now set a new hearing for November 27, at which the final divorce decree is expected to be issued.
Dhanush and Aishwaryaa, who married in 2004, have two sons—Linga and Yatra. The family lives in close proximity in Poes Garden, with both parents spending time with their children. Despite their separation, the couple continues to co-parent, and they frequently share pictures of their children on social media.
On January 17, 2022, Dhanush announced their separation via a post on X, stating, “18 years of togetherness as friends, couple, as parents and well-wishers to each other. The journey has been one of growth, understanding, adjustment, and adaptation. Today, we stand at a place where our paths separate.” Aishwaryaa shared a similar message.
Dhanush and Nayanthara Feud
In a recent development, actor Nayanthara criticized Dhanush for refusing permission to use footage from her 2015 Tamil film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in her Netflix wedding documentary. Dhanush had produced the film. She also voiced her displeasure over a legal notice from Dhanush, demanding ₹10 crore in damages for including a brief three-second behind-the-scenes clip from the movie.
In response, Dhanush has filed a civil suit against Nayanthara, accusing her of using footage from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan without his consent. As reported by The Hindu, the lawsuit has been submitted to the Madras High Court, with both Nayanthara and her husband, filmmaker Vignesh Shivan, named as defendants.
