Rajkummar Rao shares the reason behind why he requested Patralekhaa to put sindoor on him during their wedding

Rajkummar Rao and Patralekhaa are redefining relationship norms with their inspiring acts of equality and love. In a recent revelation, Rajkummar Rao sheds light on his decision for Patralekhaa to apply sindoor during their wedding, a gesture that symbolizes their shared values and bond.

During a candid chat with journalist Barkha Dutt on Mojo Story, the Stree 2 star delved into his famous gesture and elaborated on his inspiration. He noticed Patralekhaa adorning sindoor, mangalsutra, and chooda, typically donned by brides, prompting his meaningful decision.

This realization about the 'equality' between them struck a chord when he compared his simple ring to Patralekhaa’s elaborate adornments. This reflection led him to make the empowering choice he did. "At that moment, it was very impulsive. I thought, why is it just her wearing the sindoor, mangalsutra, and chooda? She had to do so much, and I was just wearing a ring. I told her, 'You should also put sindoor on me. It should be equal," he said.

The actor's heartfelt gesture deeply moved Patralekhaa, and they were overjoyed by the significance of the moment. Yet, they never expected the overwhelming attention it garnered. He explained, "She knows me well, so this was something she expected from me. But I'm glad it touched so many hearts."

Besides swapping the tradition of applying sindoor on each other's foreheads, Rao mentioned that they requested the Pandit at their wedding to elucidate the significance of every mantra recited for a deeper understanding and connection. He reminisced about a comical incident that occurred during this time and said, "There was one vachan that said she couldn't get angry at me. I immediately said, 'This one is not happening, it's not valid.'"

For those who might not know, the duo started their relationship in 2010 and exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony in Chandigarh on November 15, 2024.
