Rahul Roy says Rejecting Darr is his ‘Biggest Regret’; Reveals it was originally written for him, not SRK

Shah Rukh Khan played a stalker and obsessive lover in the 1993 Indian psychological romantic thriller film, Darr. Directed and produced by Yash Chopra, the film stars Sunny Deol, Juhi Chawla, and Shah Rukh Khan while Anupam Kher, Tanvi Azmi, and Dalip Tahil appear in supporting roles.

SRK nailed the dark character of a murderous stalker with his powerful performance, however, the film was originally not written for him. Yes, actor Rahul Roy recently revealed that he was first offered Darr, and regrets not signing the film.

Recently, Rahul appeared on The Kapil Sharma Show with Aashiqui co-stars Anu Aggarwal and Deepak Tijori to celebrate 30 years of their hit film. Roy made the big revelation that despite the humongous success of Aashiqui, he did not get any work for six months after the release of Aashiqui but suddenly was offered almost 49 films.

 “I remember Yash Chopra ji had called me for a narration. I was preoccupied with other films and couldn’t take up the offer as many of the projects I had signed on were already on floors and filmmakers were fighting for my dates” he shared.

Finally revealing the name of the film, he said: “Well, the film was Darr, which later went to Shah Rukh Khan and shaped his career. His character Rahul was written keeping me in mind. I still have the big regret of not signing that film.”

Rahul also reacted to Kareena Kapoor Khan’s ‘crush’ comment. Earlier, the actress had said,  “My first crush was the hero of one my favourite films. I actually went to the theatre eight times to watch the film because of him and the songs of the film. This film’s song had become a rage and I am a little nervous to say this after so long - my first crush was Rahul Roy. Everyone was in love with him during his film Aashiqui” to which the actor responded by saying “I’m speechless.”
