In a recent interview, actress Raashii Khanna opened up about the changing dynamics of Indian cinema and voiced a strong opinion on Bollywood’s increasing reliance on remakes of successful South Indian films. According to Raashii, while remakes may have worked in the past, the audience today is evolving and looking for originality and new experiences on screen.

With the surge of OTT platforms, dubbed South Indian films are now easily accessible, reducing the need for remakes. Raashii pointed out that language is no longer a barrier for audiences, and content from all regions is being celebrated equally. “With the rise of OTT, people are watching everything. They want fresh, engaging stories. You can’t just rely on remakes anymore,” she quoted to HT.

The actress also highlighted how the industry is slowly realizing the need to break the monotony. 'I won’t deny that remakes from the South are common, but I can see a shift in the mindset. Audiences are unpredictable now, and originality is what will stand out," she added.
