"Nisha has always been my best critic" : Karan Mehra

Karan Mehra, who has gained immense popularity after portraying the role of Naitik in the Rajan Shahi's popular show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, feels lucky to be a part of it and shares his journey being Naitik in the show in a conversation with TellyBuzz.

How does it feel to become a household name today?

It has been beautiful; it's been 5 years now and I feel great and lucky to be a part of such a big and a nice show. I have got so much of love from the audience as well and it's going on and on; it's wonderful!  

How has been your journey playing Naitik so far?

It's been good so far and Naitik has been very kind to me because Naitik has given me everything that I wanted (chuckles). Its good and fun to play this character as the character has undergone many changes and the story has always been progressing very beautifully.

How has Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai changed your life?

Now, people know me as Naitik and Karan. Naitik has given me everything which I wanted whether its name, fame or money. The show has given me satisfaction as an actor so I owe everything to the show. It's been very close to my heart and I will always be there with the show.

How much can you relate yourself to Naitik?

I am putting myself into Naitik. We are different in some ways like sometimes Naitik becomes short tempered but Karan is not like that. I am calculated and organized kind of a person. I take care of my family like Naitik does.

What's your take on your character?

The character has been evolved slowly and steadily. The character has been evolved from a guy to a responsible and matured man who shares the responsibilities of his family on his shoulders.

How has been the experience playing a father on-screen? How do you bond with Shivansh Kotia off-screen?

It's a different feeling altogether from having little Naksh in hand from playing a father to a grown up one. We do talk and I keep on irritating him by teasing him so keeps running all around. He is a happy guy.  

Does Nisha give you feedback after watching your show?

Yes, at times she does! Whenever an important scene comes, she watches it or I tell her to watch it. She has always been my best critic.

If offered a role completely different from this then would you find it easy to mold yourself into the character?

Of course! That's what an actor does. You start becoming like you need to become. I will do it and give my 100% to give the best in it.

What you would like to say to the fans for the love they shower upon you?

They have always been very sweet to me. They have always been writing very sweet things for me. I would like to say thanks to all of them and I will keep them entertaining always.
