The idea of bold relationships seems to have taken over the telly world in recent times, where Star Plus' recently launched show, Dil Sambhal Jaa Zara explores the love saga of an elderly man with a relatively younger girl.

Now, Zee TV's upcoming show, Aapke Aa Jaane Se is a reversal of the above concept, where a 42 year old woman (Suhasi Dhami) develops feelings for a young 24 year old boy, Sahil (Karan Jotwani).

The promo recently went on air and here's what we think about it-

What's It About?

The promo begins with Suhasi Dhami's character waiting for Sahil (Karan Jotwani) and the chirpy Sahil arrives surprising her with a birthday cake.

He is happy and ecstatic, where Suhasi is awkward and skeptical considering the age gap between them she realised about. Remarking Sahil about how she has a 15 year old daughter and all this craziness doesn't suit women of her age, she tries to balance her feelings for Sahil against society's norms.

Sahil is not only carefree about all this, but always has an amazing answer for all of Suhasi's doubts. To him, the age gap doesn't matter as his love for her is pure and above all beliefs.

Inspite of Suhasi's constant apprehensions, Sahil manages to make her smile and showcase her pure love constantly.

The Good

It's sheer bad luck that the show comes in a time when Dil Sambhal Jaa Zara is already on-air and people will compare. But inspite of that, the promo of Aapke Aa Jaane Se gives a sense of freshness and simplicity inspite of tackling a bold concept.

Playing an elderly woman, Suhasi Dhami looks more vibrant than ever and her comeback to TV with this show seems the right choice. Her subtlety takes over the whole promo and is perfectly complimented by Karan Jotwani's playful behaviour.

The Not-So-Good

It would have been so much better if things weren't literally said upfront enough in the promo in the form of dialogues. Be it the confession of having a 15 year old daughter or 24-42 game on cake, the blunt mouthing makes the promo less impactful than it would have been otherwise. Sometimes, unsaid words are just visual teasers work wonders.

The Verdict

With Suhasi Dhami's roaring comeback to TV and Karan Jotwani's young and chirpy vibe, Aapke Aa Jaane Se not only seems a step above on Indian TV, but also a pleasant watch.

@Boss:
Actually it's Gen-Y! :) Agree the actresses you mentioned are better than the later people. Those women had real screen presence!
@Juhi: Yes Suhasi may be younger but I think 29 is a lie. SJ, SC etc are that age now. I am relatively new to Indian TV, but Suhansi has been around for ages.She is most likley in her 30's. I would have thought mid 30's. Why do people lie so much about their age? If the role is good, you should not be typecast. Look at Aditi Gupta. She played a 50+ Sanam 2 after leap but of course being a Witch she didnt age? Lol. But after that she played people close to or her own age. So it really depends on how you are perceived and your look as well.

@Mandy: On internet, everywhere it's written. She is married to DD's older bro but she may be younger to him. Mallika don't play oldie characters. Same for Anita. She is playing old character only after leap in the show. It's easy to say 42 is not bad but once you get famous for that role, you get similar roles later. There is not problem of how people look at which age. The problem is which actor is playing which role. If tomorrow Surbhi Jyoti or Surbhi Chandna gets to play the role of 42 year old woman then what will you say?

@Angel_Juhi:
How can Suhasi be 29? Isn't she married to Drashti's older brother, and Drashti is 32? I remember her saying during NB5 that she and her husband were at collage together or something? Anyway 42 year old women are not "old. She's not 62! Lol. Most women of that age look amazing. They don't look old at all! Look at Mallika Arora? She is 43? She's always looked good! Anyways, good luck to Suhasi!

Anita Hassandani is 37-38 and she looks better than many 29 year olds!

Suhasi is only 29 n playing such older character .I'm not against this drama but sad for suhasi as now onwards she will get only older roles and she don't deserves this at such young age

Wow ! Waiting for this show to start. Which show is under the scanner ?
Suhasi looks hot !

They should have shown the guy as 18 and woman as 30-32 instead of 42. Don't want Suhasi to get only oldie roles later.

I Will Give This Series A Try.
Welcome Back Suhasi.

should be interesting, in the sense i have seen more of older guys with young girls stories in shows, but less of older women and young men. So its kinda good to see another one like this... i also like the actress (who i believe is much younger), and what i do like about it is that ppl who are in their 40s also do not look there age these days.

Again the same concept!!!

And she doesn't look 42!!!!

On American TV, women in their forties play much younger roles!!!!
