Priyanka Chopra’s mother reveals THIS person in her family was against her Miss World Participation

Priyanka Chopra brought honor to the nation when she clinched the Miss World crown in 2000. Despite the euphoria of winning the title, her path to success was far from easy. During a recent conversation, her mother, Madhu Chopra, reminisced about how the actress faced opposition from her uncle when she expressed her desire to participate in the beauty pageant. He remarked, 'Girls from our family don't do this.'

During her interview on the Something Bigger Show on YouTube, Madhu Chopra shared the challenges she faced in persuading Priyanka Chopra's late father, Ashok Chopra, to allow his daughter to go to Mumbai for the Miss India competition. However, it was Priyanka's uncle who was particularly opposed to her participation in the pageant. Describing him as the patriarch of the family, PeeCee's mother reflected on the obstacles they encountered.

Right after The Sky Is Pink actress got selected, they visited their home to convey the news that she needed to go to Bombay for training. However, her brother-in-law strongly opposed the idea, accusing her of planting ambitions in her daughter's mind. He firmly stated, "Girls from our family don't do this." Despite Priyanka Chopra's hopes that her uncle would soften, he remained resolute, leading to her disappointment and tears.

Priyanka’s mom had a chat with his wife, explaining that this was an opportunity for Priyanka and that she wouldn't be far from home. She emphasized that if things worked out, it was great, and if not, Priyanka could return to school without any pressure. Reflecting on the situation, she remembered how the children were disheartened when Ashok Chopra didn't back his daughter's aspirations.

Dr. Madhu mentioned that at that time, Priyanka was in 12th grade and preparing for her board exams. Therefore, informing her dad about the pageant and convincing him to agree during her gap year was another challenge. Despite Priyanka and her younger brother, Siddharth, persistently requesting him, their dad remained firm. He emphasized that the board exams were crucial and advised Priyanka to set aside all these 'distractions' and focus on her studies.
