Suneel Darshan, the film producer, revealed he suggested Priyanka Chopra consider cosmetic adjustments before Andaaz. During a discussion with Minutes of Masala, Darshan admitted he wasn't initially impressed with her appearance. The 2003 film also starred Lara Dutta, Akshay Kumar, and featured supporting roles from Pankaj Dheer, Johny Lever, and Maya Alagh.
During the conversation, Darshan mentioned identifying an aspect he felt required attention. He stated, “Before I did Andaaz, I did tell her that she should do something about the bridge of her nose." “She knew that that was due, and her father and her mother were such good doctors. It wasn’t an issue, they got it repaired immediately."
Priyanka Chopra revealed that a sinus surgery went awry, nearly jeopardizing her Bollywood debut. The procedure, intended to address a sinus issue, had complications that could have impacted her career.
Darshan recognized Priyanka's unique potential, noting her powerful presence and captivating voice despite not fitting traditional beauty standards. He believed in her determination and future success. "She wasn’t conventionally good-looking, but she had a powerful presence and an alluring voice."
