Himani Shivpuri who has been a seasoned actress in films (Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayege, Kuuch Kuuch Hota hai, Pardes, Ham Aapke Hai Kaun) and television (Hamrahi, Hassratein, Ghar Ek Sapna) is returning to theater after fifteen years. She is a NSD pass out and is very excited about playing the role of Shakuntala Mehra, who is a successful businesswoman. "I am excited to be on stage after such a long time; it is the greatest high any actor can get, to immediately see audience's reactions".
Moulli Ganguly who is a Bengali is playing a Punjabi village girl "Suhani" and it is for the first time she is doing a full fledged comedy. Her previous play was Kahani mein Twist with Kiran Karmarkar and she was last seen in a TV show titled Aatvaan Vachan. "I am doing an out an out comedy for the first time. Audience will get to find me doing a very different role which reflects my flair for comedy", says actress Moulli Ganguly.
The Producer of the show Sanjay Jha says, "We have worked very hard on the play and it will reflect in the performances on stage. I am sure audience will like it. It's a commercial play for the masses and the situational comedy will make people laugh".
The play is presented by Pravaah, directed by Tushar Joshi and produced by Sanjay Jha and its premiere was attended on Sunday, September 13, at Rangsharada Auditorium, Bandra by Moulli's friends and well wishers.
Everyone applauded the performance of actors particularly Moulli Ganguly and Himani Shivpuri. Hemant Jha, Puja Dhamania, Piyush Ranade, Nimesh Dilipral, Yogesh Tripathi fitted their roles perfectly. The cute Bhola of Yeh Ristha Kya Kehlata hai whose name is Bajinder Singh was seen in the climax in the role of a Sardar Kissan from Punjab.
Himani Shivpuri's son made a rare appearance and she was spotted introducing him to her co-stars.
It was Sanjay Jha's first production and he has left no stone unturned in giving it his best to the play. He happens to be the writer of the play too and has kept situations which tickle your funny bone. The audience was heard laughing throughout the play and in the end they got a lot of claps. The presenter Pranav Tripathi was heard saying that it is the audience's love which counts the most for the unit of a play. Moulli thanked Director Tushar Joshi for extracting the best performance out of her.
Mazher Sayed was heard saying that doing a play involves a lot of hard work and it is a proud moment for him to see Moulli doing a full fledged comedy play and it is word of mouth which will drive people to the next show.
