Pawan Malhotra the veteran actor, who has acted in films like Black Friday and Jab We Met, returns to television after six long years with Colors' Laagi Tujhse Lagan. His most memorable television stint was in Nukkad. In Laagi Tujhse Lagan he plays the character of inspector More, a sleazy and uncouth cop.
Pawan tells us, "I never take up any role for the sake of it. No. I don't need work or money so desperately. I want to reinvent myself with every move in my career. Therefore I see to it that each of my character has a peculiarity or eccentricity that makes it leagues apart from the previous role I have played."
The actor was very much disappointed with the mundane rut with which the television industry worked until a year back. He says, "There was this phase of Indian TV called 'saas-bahu' and I used to hate it. When I came home and switched on my television set, all I got to see was those saas-bahu shows. And it was pretty much on all the channels!"
Pawan goes on, "It was only with Jassi… that I noticed the scenario gearing up for a change. And then later on a lot of channels started experimenting with content and I think presently, we are quite okay."
Pawan explains the reason for taking up inspector More's role. He says, "First of all, the character was so crude, so impolite that one would cringe just by hearing his description. This is what made me go ahead and want to conquer this character. When you dislike a character on paper, you can't bring him out on-screen. Inspite of this, if I can play this role finely it would indeed make me an achiever. If people hate Inspector More then I would take that as a compliment."
Pawan is currently excited about two things. One is Laagi Tujhse Lagan and the other is his film Road To Sangam that releases on 29th of January.
