'Pandya Store' fame Akshay Kharodia to marry girlfriend Divya Punetha in an intimate ceremony

The one thing that multiple people have been doing all this time since COVID-19 struck the world - is postponing celebrations, and especially weddings. With the hope that the pandemic will ease out, many have been constantly postponing their wedding dates and no different is actor Akshay Kharodia, who is currently seen in Star Plus' Pandya Store.

Kharodia had to postpone his wedding with girlfriend Divya Punetha last month after finalising everything but is all set and ready to finally tie the knot. He talked about it in an interview with ETimes TV where he mentioned that now they will have an intimate ceremony with only 10 people from both families in attendance. 

He said, "We tried our best to postpone the wedding to November (2021) this year, but due to a lot of other things, we decided let’s get married now. I feel it is a good time to get married now, the situation is better as compared to the last couple of months. We are going to have only 10 people at the wedding, 5 from my side and 5 from my girlfriend’s side. It will be an intimate home wedding. I felt that there’s no point in waiting because if the third wave is worse than the first two, then we will just keep postponing everything. We all know how people are behaving. I am sure once the lockdown is completely lifted from everywhere, people will again start roaming around freely without masks, not taking care of social distancing and proper sanitization. They will return to their normal habits as if nothing happened, they are dying to go out. So, I felt it is a good time to get married now amidst restrictions rather than just waiting. And obviously, we can throw a party when the situation comes to normal like by the end of year."

Now about his wedding ahead, he said,  "We are getting married on 19th of June and I have taken leave for 7 days. I was working till 15th June and left for my home on 16th. My hometown is in Kota, Rajasthan and the baarat will go to Dehradun where my girlfriend lives. We will leave on the 18th and the wedding will be on the 19th. We are going to have all the functions on that day itself. We will in fact even return on the 19th. There are no pre-wedding functions as there are only 10 people involved in the marriage and it’s just family. I don’t want to risk anyone’s life and the people who matter the most to us are part of the wedding. We have not invited anyone and it will be a simple affair."

Finally, he mentioned about he has only got 7 days of leave post his wedding, as he said, "I am not getting holidays because I am part of a daily soap. I feel you should have a break after marriage to spend time with your partner, but work is also a priority, so I will resume work within 7 days. I will have to manage everything during these 7 days. Honeymoon plans will have to wait as I don’t have leaves. I think if the situation is better next month we will go for it. We don’t want to get infected or have problems. She is a doctor and is right now posted in Uttarakhand. So I don’t want to put things at risk."
