But official sources from the Film Academy Awards have now denied these rumors to The Hollywood Reporter. The outlet states that the Oscars ceremony employs about 1,000 local workers each year and has never been "canceled," even during the toughest times of COVID.

There have been claims that the Academy is working with a group of A-list celebrities to monitor the situation on a daily basis. This committee, reportedly led by Tom Hanks, Emma Stone, Meryl Streep, and Steven Spielberg, was said to be assessing whether to proceed with the ceremony on Sunday, March 2.

However, senior officials at the Academy, along with sources close to the aforementioned A-listers, have clarified that no such advisory committee exists. They emphasized that the Academy is not considering any changes to the planned ceremony. Instead, the organization’s 55-person board of governors is evaluating the best way to move forward with the awards event, confirming that the official date, now just 47 days away, will remain unchanged.

Furthermore, the report indicated that the board, which includes four members who lost their homes in the devastating fires, has extended the voting window for Oscar nominations. They have also postponed the announcement of the nominations, canceled this year’s Oscar Nominees Luncheon, and delayed the Scientific and Technical Awards. In addition, there are plans to raise funds for the victims of the Los Angeles wildfires and to celebrate fire relief efforts, ensuring the ceremony proceeds with dignity.
