New Delhi, Oct 26 (IANS) Young and quirky designer Nida Mahmood set the ramp on fire with her collection 'Machis' at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) Tuesday. Her show, though dramatic, displayed a wearable and very chic line.

Mahmood started the show with two huge puppets peeking out from the backdrop. And as soon as they took their positions, the song 'Hind Desh Ke Niwasi Sabhi Jan Ek Hai' started playing in the background, building the tempo for the show.

The line was divided into three parts - The Doll, The Black and White, and her signature line.

This time Mahmood shifted from her regular bright colours and bling mode and spun over to light, subtle tones of beige, khakis, and multiple prints.

In the first line, the models sashayed down the ramp wearing masks and sported trousers in varied shapes and lengths. There were a lot of frills and ruffles, especially in trousers. And according to Mahmmod, fluidity of trousers is going to be one of the big trends of spring/summer 2011.

Her second line had breezy tunics, off-shoulder dresses, combat shrug jackets, dungarees, asymmetrical tops with the imprints of bicycles and owls among others.

'I find inspiration from all simple things of life. Like matchboxes, they are small and are priced at Re.1 but they have the power to destroy or celebrate,' Nida told IANS.

'I like everything that is mundane and boring and try to make it dramatic,' she added.
