Netflix to Let Its Users Disable The Autoplay Previews!

Netflix's annoying autoplay previews i.e. the trailers that play when you browse through the Netflix carousel finally come to an end. Netflix insisted that the previews made it simpler for users to choose, but it also compelled people to mute the TV, change menus, or do anything they could to make it stop. 

After years of being bothered by the sudden bursts of sounds that come with the previews, Netflix has finally decided to give its users the option of turning them off. 

The directions to disable them is simply easy. 

To disable the option, you must be logged onto Netflix on the browser and then follow the steps below.

• Navigate to netflix.com and Sign In from the top-right.
• On the ‘Who's Watching' screen, select Manage Profiles.
• Select the profile you'd like to change the setting for.
• On the ‘Edit Profile' screen under ‘Autoplay controls', uncheck Autoplay previews while browsing on all devices.
• Click Save, then click Done on the next screen.

You can also use the ‘Edit Profile' screen to turn off “autoplay next episode in a series”. Who knows it might just fix your binging habits. 

Netflix first launched autoplay previews at the end of 2016. Stephen Garcia, Netflix’s director of product innovation, said that "television has “decades’ worth of expectation that when you turn it on, the video and audio play. So it’s actually quite strange to have a silent experience.” Since then, the site has gotten plenty of updates to disable the same. 

As per Netflix, “there may be a delay before the setting takes effect. You can force an update by switching to another profile, then switching back in order to reload your profile with the updated setting.”
