Neerja fame Aastha Sharma comments on her acting journey and how she secured her debut role

Aastha Sharma, a passionate actor born in Shimla and coming from a middle-class family, ignited her career by doing a music album, "Mitran De Pind". In 2022, the actor got recognition through "Swaran Ghar" by playing Swaran. Eventually, she did play Avantika in the show "Piya Abhimani," starred along with the actor Akshit Sukhija.

Aastha is ruling the "Neerja- Ek Nayi Pehchaan" show by playing the character of Neerja. This popular Hindi romantic genre is a new show on Colors' TV consisting of a gripping story plot and mother-daughter bond. Aastha is acing the lead character, with her performances. In an exclusive interview with Etimes, Aastha opened up about her acting journey, how she got the opportunity and much more.

When asked about Aashtha's acting journey, the actor revealed that during her college years, she was confused, transitioning from a background in Humanities to pursuing a Bachelor's in Business Administration. During this time, the opportunity to act in the show "Swaran Ghar" presented itself, casting her in the role of young Swaran.

Despite her initial lack of knowledge about camera angles, she exuded confidence on set. Her journey in the acting world was a learning process that unfolded on the job, and it was during this time that she developed a deep passion for the craft, ultimately deciding to make it her career. Her first opportunity occurred while she was in college.

Following her initial experience in the world of television, she made the bold decision to forego further studies and fully commit to pursuing acting. Her parents, thankfully, provided unwavering support throughout this transition. Relocating to Mumbai posed its own set of challenges, but with her father by her side, the journey was more manageable.

Reflecting on how she secured her debut role, Aastha recounted that the casting director of "Swaran Ghar" stumbled upon her Instagram reel. Struck by her suitability for the role, the casting director reached out, requesting a monologue. Impressed by her performance, the casting director wasted no time, summoning her to join the shoot the next day. This experience highlighted the power of social media, even with a relatively low follower count, in helping her secure her first foothold in the television industry.
